| If your computer has been acting odd lately one of the tests
you might consider running is a hard drive error check. This
test will check the drive for various soft and hard errors,
fix them if possible and produce a report describing its activity.
Scanning your Hard Drive for Errors
1. Open My Computer
2. First right-click on the drive you want to scan. Select
Properties from the list.
3. Next go to the Tools tab at the top of the Properties
window.
4.Click the Check Now button.
5. In the Check Disk window that pops up, make sure to
place checkmarks next to both options "Automatically
fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt
recovery of bad sectors". Windows XP might inform you
that a scan cannot be performed while the disk is in use,
and allow you the choice of yes or no as to whether Scan
Disk will perform your scan the next time you system boots
up.
If the scan is unable to finish, it could be a serious
problem, let us help.
