| One of the most common questions I am asked is what is defragging,
and why is it important? As we use our computers pieces of
our programs and files are spread around your hard drive.
Why is this bad you may ask, it will take longer to load files
and programs including windows when you first turn your computer
on. Also system backups and antivirus scans will take longer
to run, and if that was not enough evidence to convince you,
properly defragging your hard drive can add up to three years
to the life of your hard drive. The next question people ask
is how to defrag their computer. Luckily Microsoft recognized
the need to include a free program with windows. The programs
name is Disk Defragmenter. It is included in every modern
version of windows. It is generally located in the system
tools menu, which is under the accessories menu. Once you
locate the program it has simple instructions to walk you
through the process. |
